Dental Insurance?

I don't have dental insurance and I'm probably gonna have to have my tooth pulled. How much do you think it will cost? Is there normally a payment plan so I won't have to pay all at once or upfront? I've been told that dental insurance really isn't even worth it. What do you think?

Dental Insurance?
Most dental insurance is NOT worth it, but there are some good ones out there. Check out www.BestForLessDental.com they have really low rates, and you only have to meet the $100 deductible one time, not every year. Best of all, there are no waiting periods like with most dental insurance, and you can see any dentist you choose. It is a GREAT plan. I have saved about 600 bucks so far and have only been on it a couple months. For me, it's a lifesaver!
Reply:The cost of a tooth extraction depends on what kind of extraction (simple or surgical?), general dentist or oral surgeon? local or general anesthesia? The cost can also vary depending on where you live...I live in Las Vegas and a simple tooth extraction is about $100 and it can go up from there. Dental insurance can be a good benefit especially if you tend to have problems. But if all you've ever needed are cleanings then having insurance may not be worth it. You have to figure if you are benefiting from paying that monthly premium for your dental insurance.
Reply:An extraction in the general dental office I work in range from $75-$300. I would highly recommend having dental insurance if you have a history of dental problems. Insurance will help tremendously with high dollar procedures, such as, crown and bridgework, partials or braces. If you have good home care and very little if any history of problems, it is cheaper to pay out of pocket for cleanings twice a year.
