My dental insurance wont cover braces...need to find a discount plan?

My husbands plan wont cover spouses for braces. Do you know any companies and or any websites that I can get some info from. I'm looking for a company that offers a discount for braces only, I don't need a discount on dental because I already have dental insurance. Any advice or experience with this would be a help...thanks!!!

My dental insurance wont cover braces...need to find a discount plan?
Discount dental plans are a joke.

Orthodontists have fixed costs - brackets and wires are expensive. So is the cost of additional training necessary to move teeth. Why would a specialist provide services for a fraction of what they normally charge? What will they do for full-paying patients that they won't do for a discount patient?

Ask about payment plans, cash discounts, etc. Stay away from multi-level schemes such as Ameriplan.
Reply:While there may be a plan out there, you may be able to do even better. Call the orthodontist you are wanting to work with and find out if they offer a payment plan, most do. Then ask how much braces typically run and what the payment will likely be. Finally, explain (only if true) that the cost is just slightly out reach for your family. Ask if they will consider a reduction in fees in return for a dedicated patient that can give them great references. It doesn't hurt to ask. The fact they don't have to file insurance, should help them lower their cost. Heck - ask for the same rate as the insurance folks get.
Reply:I have Ameriplan Dental and I have received great discounts. It is not a scheme as the previous poster said. Why would reputable dentists be associated with a company that is a scheme?

The website is http://www.mybestdentalbenefits.com if you are interested.
Reply:Comfort Dental. I think they have offices all over the country, and I have found their prices in many cases to be MORE AFFORDABLE than with insurance. They offer a plan called the Gold Plan (which can be purchased for $12 a month) that gives you access to their member rates on everything.

An example: I have poor gums and about 5 years ago I had a procedure called "Scaling %26amp; Planning" performed. At that time I DID have insurance, and my total out of pocket cost was $1000. I just had the same procedure done at my Comfort Dental office for $440.

They have a braces program too, $129 / month for adults with no downpayment. I guess those rates might vary depending on where you live.
