Dental insurance?
I need two crowns on my teeth and got an estimate from my dentist for almost $1,600.00. Can i purchase dental insurance that will help cover the cost of this. if so, is there a waiting period before I can get the work done or will it cover it right away? Do you know of a good dental insurance that I can purchase privately?
Dental insurance?
I have a dental discount plan and it works fine for me! No limits on visits or services, no age limit, no waiting period, specialists included! This plan does have their own providers but a very broad selection. Save anywhere from 50% to 80 on most utilized dental procedures such as exams, x-rays, teeth cleanings, fillings, root canals, and even crowns! Also save 25% when you have to go to a specialist. This plan does have their own providers but in most areas you have many choices. Once you enroll for the plan within 24 hours you are issued a member id # so right away you can begin using the plan. The plan is only $11.95 a month for an individual or $19.95 a month for household. You also get 3 additional benefits free with the plan vision, RX, %26amp; chiropractic! I don't know if this is what you are looking for but at least you will be able to save money on whatever dental services you need.

Reply:I am sure you can get Dental Insurance, but you are going to have to really try to find a good insurance to cover most of your dental work, and have a small co-payment.
Reply:Delta dental. It is great except for in the first year it only covers 70% second 80% third 90% fourth 100% but it saves you a ton of money.
Reply:It depends. I've been shopping around for dental insurance myself. One of the best I have found so far is called SafeGuard - I actually posted about it earlier. It's a dental HMO, so you will need to do some footwork and find out if dentists in your area are accepting new patients and what the waiting time is before they can schedule you in.
Go to www.insurance.com, put in your "spam" email address, I don't know how they use it on this website. Put in your zip code, and see what turns up.
The plan that I'm considering purchasing has no waiting period, no plan maximum, and no deductible for an individual rate of 11.95$ a month. The detail of benefits can be found http://www.dentalinsurance.com/di/web/pr... there. There are alot of dentists which participate in my area with minimal scheduling wait time (they have said they can usually get me in by the next week, which is pretty normal for any dentist office). On visiting the facilities, I found them in top shape with friendly assistants and knowledgeable staff. All of my requirements have been met with this HMO plan.
Quite frankly, after comparing apples to apples and evaluating dental HMO vs. PPO in my area, an HMO is the way to go for me. One problem I've been running into with PPO plans is huge premiums (30-40$+ a month for ONE person) tiny plan caps (1,000$ goes by FAST with dental work) and ridiculous waiting periods. Then compounding this, with a PPO plan, they do not cover major dental work. Anything beyond a cleaning and a silver filling, a PPO plan does NOT cover. So this means your root canal would NOT be covered and you'd be paying out of pocket with or without insurance! What's the sense in that?
At the end of the day, it boils down to what is going to work for YOU. A PPO plan in your area may work for you. It doesn't for me. Each individuals needs are different. Each area has different levels and types of insurance. It could be TOTALLY different in your area.
Reply:BCBS has a great dental plan. There is a 6 month waiting period after the purchase though, if you can wait that long, I would definatly do it.
Reply:The problem with dental insurance is that most all of the companies have a waiting period...usually 6 months...and require pretty high copays. Some only cover basic things and don't cover things like crowns.
You might want to try a discount dental plan. They are cheap...usually less than $100 per year and they give you a big discount off of what the dentist charges, and there is no waiting peroid. I found a plan at http://dental-ppo.com that worked well for me. You can search by zip code to see what plans are available in your area.

i am 19 years old...going to be 20 in may, i guess i am not eliglible any more for dental insurance from my father because i am over 18. (my father have SIDS--self insured dental services)i am a student within the CUNY system and was wondering what dental insurance can i obtain?
Dental insurance?
Are you sure you're not eligible under your father's plan? Generally speaking, you are covered under the age of 18 or up to 24 if you are full time student. See if this applies to to terms of his plan. If not, you may be better off paying the full shot to the dentist. Independent dental plans are expensive and frequently cost more than just paying directly for the services.
Reply:As previously suggested, do verify the coverage from your father's policy based on the fact you are still a student. If the coverage is not there and depending on the severity or immediacy of the dental work you need, look for a dental school in your area. They usually offer discounted services if you are seen by a resident dentist who is supervised by a licensed dentist.

I am on disability.....SSI and I also have Medicaid....does Medicaid cover dental? If not, does anyone know of an AFFORDABLE dental insurance. I only get $720 per month which is practically impossible to live on. I have already had to cancel my car insurance (no, I'm not driving uninsured.....if I need to go somewhere I use my mother's car). I have to have about $4,000 worth of dental work done and I simply cannot afford it.......my only other choice is to let my teeth rot out of my head, which I really don't want to do. Can anyone help?
Dental insurance?
Depending on the state you live in, Medicaid should cover your dental work, if you can find a dentist that accepts it. There is also Care Credit, a program like a credit card, that you are approved for a certain amount of money, then pay monthly. Also you can try your local dental school, which may have income based fees. Please don't let your teeth rot out, decayed teeth cause so many other health problems.
Reply:Check and see if there's a United Cerebral Palsy Association near you... they have a dental clinic on site and accept medicaid... you should be eligible to go there since you have some kind of a disability...
Good luck to you.
:)
Reply:Dental insurance would be too expensive and has a small maximum a year compared to the work you need. Some states have community dental clinics which help with work, bank loan, or CareCredit. The best choice is to find a local dental school. It takes some time to get all the work done, but they do good work for much less and sometimes free.

Hey guys I have couple of questions regarding dental insurance.
I need to get 3 of my teeth fixed but the price on the work is pretty high and I am afraid that I wont be able to cover it on my own so I am looking for a dental insurance.
If I get a insurance in 10 minutes can I go get my teeth fixed tomorrow or do I have to wait a certain period of time before I can go and use it?
How much do I need to cover on my own?
What does the insurance cover? invasaline?
and the last one

Reply:most of those things will depend on your plan but I doubt any insurance will cover invisalign.
Reply:Most companies do not offer individual dental insurance. There are a lot of companies that offer "plans" that are discounts, it isn't insurance though so be careful.
Delta dental does offer insurance in some states. You should definitely give them a try.
Also, most insurances have like a 6 month waiting period for major things. You would just need to check with them.
It is always best to have dental through your employer if possible.
Reply:I have a policy worth a look. Its the BlueCross/BlueShield dental HMO, and there is no waiting period BUT, you have to be signed up by the 15th for coverage on the first of the next month. So....right now, you could not be covered until April 1st.
Also, with the HMO, you would have to settle on one office to be your dentist, although you can change it later. The cost is right at about $11.65 per month, plus a one-time sign-up fee of $35. Here's a link to the benefit sheet which gives you the cost of the various dental services. Many of them are free.

Reply:You have a few options, mostly discount plans that allow you to get certain discounts at participating dentists. To get true dental insurance you probably need to be in a "group" of at least 3 people.

Reply:Private dental insurance is very expensive and usually doesn't cover pre-existing conditions. But, dental discount plans are very affordable and can save you 30-60% off on the average. Also, most of them cover pre-existing conditions.
